National Review

Since 1955, National Review has been the leading voice in conservative thought. Their site is full of constant smart analysis from great conservative writers such as Charles C. W. Cooke, Noah Rothman, Jim Geraghty, and Rich Lowry. They also publish an amazing magazine and put out thoughtful podcasts such as “The Editors.” National Review has remained true to conservative principles over party loyalty in the course of these years, and they have championed in moral clarity over a host of issues. While there is plenty of free content, National Review is a source that is well worth the subscription.

NR truly is a must read for the thoughtful citizen.

The Dispatch

The Dispatch started off in 2019 and was founded by former National Review senior editor Jonah Goldberg and former editor-in-chief of the now defunct The Weekly Standard Stephen F. Hayes. The Dispatch’s goal has been to fill in a gaping hole in conservative media by providing thoughtful commentary and reporting without getting carried away with all the partisan debauchery that permeates so much of the media on the Left and the Right. The Dispatch has solid reporting on some of the biggest issues that really matter, and their newsletters and podcasts are must reads and listens.

The Free Press

The Free Press started off in 2021 as Common Sense under the founding of former op-ed staff editor at the New York Times Bari Weiss. The Free Press is a home to great, intelligent writers on the Left, Right, and Center. The publication has done some great reporting, and it has put out some really good thought pieces. Their flagship podcast, “Honestly,” is an excellent piece of work.

Through and through, The Free Press is truly an essential read.

Commentary Magazine

Commentary Magazine began in 1945 under Elliot E. Cohen. John Podhoretz currently serves as Commentary’s editor, and his father Norman Podhoretz is largely responsible for the magazine becoming one of the leading voices on neoconservativism since the 1970s. Commentary often focuses on stories that are significant for foreign policy and the state of Israel, but the magazine has thoughtful analysis on domestic concerns and puts out a daily podcast.

Commentary is a great read for anyone who wants a perspective on the larger issues festering in the world today.
