Greetings Reader:
So, since starting The Outside Post, I have discovered that it’s actually kind of hard to consistently write and publish stuff when the constant drudgery of life pulls you to and fro — that is to say: Life gets busy. Hopefully, soon, I will be able to start delivering more high-quality contact to you, dear reader. So far, only a few people are aware of the existence of this publication, but I am determined to keep pressing on. There is a lot going on out there, and I feel like there needs to be more sensible voices out there who can discuss what exactly is going on and provide cool-headed analysis of those said going ons.
But back to busyness. Merriam-Webster defines the word as “the state of having or being involved in many activities.” Well, that’s exactly what is going on with me right now. Trust me, dear reader, I would like to spend all my time writing about many things, but I find myself occupied with so much other stuff that needs to get done.
“But LonePundit,” you may ask, “what exactly is it that keeps you so busy?”
“Well,” I respond, “considering the fact that I go by the pen name ‘LonePundit’ instead of my actual name, that implies that I wish to be left anonymous — and alone, as Scrooge might say. Therefore, I will not be spilling the details.” (FYI, I am a much nicer man than Scrooge was in the Dickens tale.)
The point is, life is busy for me, and whether that’s a valid excuse for not writing as much I’ll leave to your judgment. But I’m sure your life gets busy too. It would be nice to be rid of that busyness, but that’s just the way things go. I find it interesting that the Bible says we, despite our busyness and preoccupations, are to be “redeeming the time, because the days are evil” (Ephesians 5:16; KJV). We all struggle in properly scheduling our time, but what the Bible exhorts is that we are to be redeeming it — making the best use of it. Time is a precious gift from God. There is no guarantee of tomorrow. What matters is what we are doing now with the time God has given. Are we idling away? Are we spending time on what we ought not? That doesn’t mean we can’t have fun times or rest, but we should always remember to take care of the things that God would have us do now. As Jesus said, “But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things [your needs] will be added to you” (Matthew 6:33; ESV). Use time wisely.
Hmm, so I started by explaining my absence from writing, and then I somehow managed to start lecturing you about time management. Oh well, it was a good lecture. I apologize for my ramblings on busyness and the lessons thereof, but I felt like I needed to write something again. I hope you enjoyed reading this anyway.
Farewell readers!
